Why do you write in a journal or diary?

please explain in as much detail as possible why one would write in a journal or diary…

I write in my journal, not daily. I write things i want people to remember when they find it after I am gone. I have a book that i write a letter to each of my family members on there birthdays. I tell them the things I am proud of about them and the funny things I remember that they did. I tell them all the time I am proud of them especially my kids and husband. I also write for myself to remember special times and things that happen in the day.

I even write when I have a bad day, so on paper I can see what may have caused me to have that bad day so I won’t repeat it later.

I don’t write embarrassing things that I wouldn’t won’t known of me. Like when I lost my virginity, that’s my friend is no ones business. LOL

I have to date at the age of 40 i have 7 journals one for each kid, one for my hubby and one of the poems and stories that come to my head. Now I have one for each grand kid. I wrote in them all about the day we meet for my hubby and for the kids the day they were born and what i was thinking. For the grand kids about the waiting and seeing them for the first time. I even wrote in my daughters things about her the day her kids were born.
